Most AAU members don’t know the name Dave Callum. Dave is one of the founders of the New England AAU travel baseball league as well as the founder of Tops 96, one of the largest baseball college showcases in the country.
Callum ran one of the most powerful and respected travel baseball programs in AAU. Dave’s club, New England Lightning, won the AAU Nationals 3 years in a row. They won as 13u, 14u, and 15u before Coach Callum retired and began investing his time building Top 96 Baseball Showcases.
This past weekend, at the first ever New England AAU Volleyball Grand Prix, a new Callum was competing - Dave’s daughter Jayme. Jayme, competing in the 16u division in her first AAU event for the Beantown Volleyball Club 16s Elite, is a 5’8” very talented athlete, who attends Gann Academy in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Jayme is not only a classy volleyball player, but as a freshmen at Gann, was the starting catcher in softball batting over .400 with a strong arm and great instincts for a freshmen. With dad’s experience and knowledge of the game, we will be hearing much more about Jayme as an outstanding athlete throughout her college years.
