Local service for Pee Wee Summers set for April 29

Two services, one in Kansas City, Kan., will be held for William “Pee Wee” Summers, the longtime basketball official who died last week.

Summers, 70, died from complications with diabetes in Oklahoma City on April 14. Summers was a former William Jewell standout athlete who had been a basketball referee on the high school and college level, calling games throughout the region, including the Big Eight.

The first service will be held at 6 p.m. April 29 at St. Peter CME Church at 1914 North 8th Street in Kansas City, Kan. Cards and condolences should be sent to the church.

The second service will be held in Danville, Ill., Summers’ hometown, at 11 a.m. May 17 at New Life Church of Faith.
