Start Youth Golfers Early for Success Brendon Elliott on the importance of starting youth golfers early for success:
The inspiration for starting Little Linksters came when my daughter started daycare. The daycare facility had all kinds of sports activities, such as karate and tennis, but no golf anywhere. If golf isn't in the mix with other sports when kids are trying different sports for the first time, it's an afterthought. By the time a child is 10, it's much harder to get them excited and comfortable with the game. So my idea was to make the game available to as many preschool-age kids as possible right out of the gate, mixing some instruction in with making the game fun. If you can get a kid playing golf in the 3-5 age range, you have a much better chance of that person sticking with golf for the long term.
Brendon Elliott on the business impact of starting youth golfers early for success:
Focusing on the tried and true ways of getting players into the game is fine, but we really haven't even scratched the surface with where youth golf can go. There are so many different pockets and areas, from Mommy and Me or Daddy and Me family classes to PGA Junior League Golf and other opportunities. And if you don't target youth golfers until they're 8 or 10, you're missing years of development time and revenue.
