LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL- Saturday was the final wrap up for the 2013 AAU Baseball Grand National Championships at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida for the 11U, 12U, and 13U divisions. Despite the rainy Florida weather, the Grand Nationals were a success! 

During the AAU Grand Nationals, the AAU Super Showcase games were also taking place. Although the Super Showcase All Star Games were rained out, the weather couldn't stop athletes from participating in the skills competition with the special guest athletes.

9U Championship Game
The FCA Sluggers grabbed the win over the Central Florida Wolverines in the 9U title game at ESPN Wide World of Sports. The 9-2 blowout came after an explosive fifth inning for the FCA Sluggers. The Wolverines were held to two runs on eight hits in the six inning game. For some game highlights from the Grand Nationals tournament and the AAU Super Showcase, click HERE.

10U Championship Game
The Central Florida Wolverines outscored the Central Florida RedHawks 5-2 despite being outhit 3 runs to 5. Timely hitting and smart running helped the Wolverines grab the win when they scored two runs on a passed ball in the first.

The Redhawks scored a run in the second, and then another in the top of the fourth, bringing the score to 3-2. Two more runs scored for the Wolverines in the bottom of the fifth and they closed the door on the Redhawks, giving the Wolverines the 5-2 win.

11U Championship Game
The Central Florida Wolverines held off Team Florida’s comeback in the fourth inning, clinging to their 5-4 lead to win the game. The Wolverines got on the board first in the second inning, scoring on an error. They added to their lead by scoring three more runs in the third. In the fourth, the Wolverines had quite a scare when a three-run double kicked off a four run inning for Team Florida.The Wolverines managed to hold on their slight lead to win the game, 5-4 over Team Florida. 

12U Semi-Finals
It was a great matchup in the 12U semifinals when  two top 10 nationally ranked teams faced off. The Stingrays took the 3-1 win over Team MVP National in 6 innings. Great pitching held Team MVP National to one earned run on four hits and no walks. The Stingrays pitching racked up seven strikeouts in the game. The Stingrays got on the board first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first. They scored on a groundout in the third and held the lead for the rest of the game.

12U Championship Game
The Diamond Sports Stealth USA team captured a blowout 9-1 victory over the Stingrays in the 12U Championship game. The Stealth sealed the deal in 6 innings at Champions Stadium at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Stealth launched two home runs in the game and the pitching held the Stingrays to only one run throughout the game. The Diamond Sports Stealth will get the opportunity to travel to Memphis to represent AAU at the National Youth Baseball Championships. 

Overall the AAU Baseball Grand National Championships and the AAU Baseball Super Showcase were both a success. Team pride, brotherhood, and sportsmanship were at an all time high throughout the week.
