AAU beach volleyball championship hits milestone

This year marked the 20th year of the AAU Jr. Beach Volleyball National Championship which was held in Hermosa Beach over two days. A large contingent of local players hit the sand for a chance at gold, silver and bronze medals. Grant Chalmers and Riley Mallon of Manhattan Beach picked up gold medals in the boys U18 division and they were not the only ones. Luke Grafton of Hermosa Beach and Dane Johnson won gold in the boys U14. In the girls’ competition, Katie Barkley of Manhattan Beach won gold in the U16. Maia Hannemann of Hermosa Beach won gold in the U12. .
