Kelsey Robinson, one of the 84th Annual Sullivan Award nominees, has been making a name for herself with the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball team. Robinson, along with two other players, made their international senior level debuts for Team USA on Tuesday in Montreux, Switzerland.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team opened the prestigious Montreux Volley Masters event by defeating Germany 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21. Robinson started the game as an outside hitter and totaled 15 points with 12 kills and three blocks.
The following day, the U.S. Women’s team, which is ranked second in the world, defeated Japan 3-0, 25-17-25-22, 25-20.
The U.S. Women’s team wrapped up their round-robin pool play on Friday against their NORCECA rival, the Dominican Republic, at noon PT. The U.S. grabbed the win with a 75-48 total score over three sets. Robinson had six kills, with four blocks and 3 serves for a total of 13 points scored.
The U.S. team defeated Russia 3 sets to 1 in the semifinal match on Saturday, but fell to the German volleyball team on Sunday in the finals. The U.S. Women's National Volleyball team placed second in the entire tournament. Kelsey Robinson contributed 14 total points in the semifinals and 16 points in the finals.
