Larry Krystkowiak's run of getting instate commits continued on Saturday night.
Hunter guard Noah Togiai - one of the Utes key targets in the Class of 2015 - pledged to Utah one day after the Utes defeated UC-Davis 94-60 at the Huntsman Center.
Togiai was one of two instate players - Makol Mawien is the other - to hold a scholarship offer for 2015. Togiai is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, who is also one of the best football players in the state. When reached by the Tribune on Saturday night, Togiai said he was a Utah lean for quite some time.
"Ever since I got the offer, I knew Utah was where I wanted to go," Togiai said. "But my mom said no. She wanted me to take my time and look at some other schools. But Utah was where I wanted to go. We all sat down and talked about it and my parents gave me the go ahead."
Togiai becomes Utah's first 2015 commit. More importantly, with every local commit, the Utes are becoming more and more of a player in Utah recruiting - something that couldn't be said under Jim Boylen.
Togiai also had an official offer from Hawaii. He had interest from Utah State and San Francisco as well. He plays his AAU basketball with Utah Pump N' Run.
"This was the offer I wanted," Togiai said. "When I got it, it was the best feeling I ever had. Even if it was the last offer I got, I was still going to go to Utah."
