Swing for the fences in the AAU Grand Nationals

Lake Buena Vista, Fla.--The 2013 AAU Baseball Grand Nationals are just around the corner! The tournament features teams with age groups from 9U all the way through 13U. The two week event will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, but some games will be played at the Osceola Softball Complex in the Orlando area.

The bats come alive June 17 and don’t stop until the 29th! The 9U and 10U teams will play the first week and then the 11U through 13U teams will start on the 23rd and wrap up the tournament a week later. For more tournament information, CLICK HERE.

More than 2,400 players from 30 states and Puerto Rico will look to bring home the crown! The stakes are high in the 12U Diamond Division, where the winner  will represent the AAU in August at the National Youth Baseball tournament in Memphis, Tenn.

During all the AAU Grand Nationals action, don't forget to check out the AAU 14U and Underclassmen Super Showcase! This event features the best of the best and starts the 18th and continues until the 22nd. This tournament will also be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports, so there will be plenty of baseball to watch!

The Super Showcase also includes All Star Day at ESPN Wide World of Sports. All Star Day features one All Star game for each age group, skills competition, and special guests. Guests include Jason Romano, Mike O'Malley, Mark Whiten, Louie Martinez, and Mike Sinicola. These guests will host the skills competitions, which include fastest baserunner, throwing accuracy, bunting, and the Home Run Derby and then later coach the All Star games. Each of the ten teams' coaches will nominate 3 or 4 position players and one pitcher to participate in the All Star games. Then All Star game team captains Jason Romano and Mark Whiten will choose which players they want on their teams. We're looking forward to that game, especially because of Romano and Whiten's long standing rivalry! You won't want to miss it!

Looking ahead to next summer, here's some important information to apply to have your team in the AAU Baseball Super Showcase! You have to apply and be accepted to be in the AAU Super Showcase. The cost to participate is $750 PER TEAM. This cost includes five guaranteed games and housing. For more information, visit the AAU Baseball website HERE.
