SACRAMENTO (March 28, 2017) – Dr. Roger J. Goudy of the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States (AAU) was named the Sports Event Organizer of the Year by National Association of Sports Commissions at this year’s NASC Sports Event Symposium being held this week in Sacramento.
The Sports Event Organizer of the Year award goes to a staff member of a sports event rights holder which has exhibited the most outstanding impact in the sport tourism industry. This individual has positively impacted the industry through events held through economic impact, hotel occupancy, growth of sport in a local community, participation and/or attendance records.
"I am truly humbled that I and the AAU have been awarded this honor," said. Dr. Goudy. "On behalf of the 700,000 members of the AAU we thank NASC for all it does to advance and develop sports in the United States."
The 25th annual NASC Sports Event Symposium is being held March 27-30 at the Sacramento Convention Center. The NASC Sports Event Symposium is the annual meeting for the only non-profit 501(c)3 trade association for the sport tourism industry. For 25 years, the Symposium has been designed for serious-minded sport tourism professionals by sport tourism professionals.
