HOUSTON, Texas (August 1) - The 2016 AAU Junior Olympic Games officially opened with the Celebration of Athletes last night Sunday, July 31, 2016. Olympic track and field legend and AAU alum Carl Lewis performed lighting the torch duties and also shared some inspirational words for this year's participants. Hosted at the M.O. Campbell Center, the event included the traditional parade of athletes, guest speakers, music, a magic show, videos and more.

TRACK & FIELD: Today, is the first day of competition for track and field, the largest sport in the event with more than 12,000 participants. Be sure and catch all the action with the FREE livestream available at www.aautv.org OTHER SPORTS: Other sports going on today include baton twirling, cheerleading, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.
