Lake Buena Vista, April 22, 2015 – AAU President/CEO Dr. Roger Goudy and AAU Basketball Chairs Matt Williams & Boo Williams announce the AAU is offering FREE entry into select AAU tournaments to those teams impacted by the recent dissolution of the Elevate Basketball Circuit (EBC), a youth boys & girls basketball league not affiliated with AAU.
“The AAU is about more than sports, it’s about the well-being of athletes, coaches, and families. When we heard about the Elevate situation, that teams had paid and lost their money as well as the rest of their basketball season, we were as upset as anyone else,” said Dr. Goudy.
Various clubs and teams from around the country were affected including those in cities such as Atlanta, GA, Norfolk, VA, Myrtle Beach, SC, Nashville, TN as well in others states like Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Illinois to name a few.
In an unprecedented move, the AAU is offering clubs and teams who lost money to EBC the opportunity to participate in one (1) FREE AAU licensed event this 2015 spring and summer. AAU is waiving the entry fee for one event to help these teams save their seasons.
“Immediately after reading about it, AAU brainstormed on how to extend playing opportunities to these young athletes. Since 1888, the AAU has offered events and we are proud to step in and do something good for the sports community,” said Dr. Goudy.
Any teams affected by the EBC implosion, please contact the AAU National Office to see how you can take advantage of this offer:
