Wondering how the reigning 14u Open,15u Open, 16u Open National Champions and Runner Ups are faring on the first two days of competition at the 41st Annual AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships? Could they repeat? Well, we've tracked them down and here's how they're doing:
• Current 15u Open National Champions Mizuno Northern Lights are 3-0 on Day 1 in the 16u Open Division. They won in straight sets versus SBVC 16-Blue (25-10, 25-16) and Club V 16 Vici (25-18, 25-8) in their first two matches, but had to go three against OEU 16N Roly. They resume play at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. vs SCVC 16 Roxy, OJVA 16 Gold and WAVE 16 Klein. • 15u National Runner Ups Mizuno Sports Performance 16 Elite also started off the first day 3-0. They took straight sets from West Bend Power 16 Purple (25-21, 25-20) and AJVC 16 Elite (25-12, 25-14), before going three sets against Epic 16-Jim. Sports Performance will resume play at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. versus Seal Beach 16-Melody, Coastal VA 16 Blue and Powerhouse 16 Elite. • Reigning 16u Open National Champions Legacy 17-1 are cruising through pool play, going 4-0 in the first two days. On Day 1, they earned wins against Front Range VBC 17 Silver (25-9, 25-16, 25-13) and Boomers 17 Black (25-14, 25-19, 25-19). On Day 2, Legacy won in straight sets versus Miwauke Sting 17 Gold (25-15, 25-17) and Elevation 17 Walters (25-14, 25-14). They're back on the court at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. versus Woodlands WAVE 17uA, Sky High 17 Black and Avoli 17 Luis. • 2013 16u Open Runner Ups Mizuno Northern Lights 17-1 are also undefeated; 6-0 through Day 1 & 2. They won in straight sets versus MAVBC 17 Travel (25-19, 25-21) and Nebraska Jrs. 172 (25-14, 25-13), but had to go three sets against Mizuno Vision 17.1 (26-24, 25-27, 15-13). On Day 2, they notched wins against Capitanas (25-16, 25-22), OEV 17N Jeff (18-25, 25-15, 15-10) and Asics Munciana Wild (30-28, 25-18). Northern Lights will be back on the court at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. versus Triangle 17 Black, OVA 17 Asics and NC Elite 17 Black. • Current 14u Open Runner Ups Mizuno Northern Lights 14-1 (now 15-1) are looking to get back to the finals again this year in the 15u Open Division after losing to OVA 14 Asics in three sets in the 14u Open Finals. They are currently 5-0 on the first two days of competition. Northern Lights hopes to follow in sister team 15-1's (now 16-1) footsteps and keep the 15u Open national title in the Northern Lights family for another year. Five AAU Volleyball National Championships will be broadcasted LIVE on ESPN3 on Monday and Tuesday. The schedule is as follows:
Monday, June 24: • 4:30 p.m.-- 15u Open Finals • 6:30 p.m.-- 17u Open Final
Tuesday, June 25: • 3:00 p.m.-- 17u Club Final • 5:00 p.m.-- 16u Club Final • 7:00 p.m.-- 16u Open Final
