The 2013 European Global Challenge took place in July in Pula, Croatia. Dana Wall, North Carolina AAU District Director, organized a team to participate in the event comprised of AAU members from throughout the country. A variety of AAU Districts were represented on the team including North Carolina, Virginia, Arizona, New York and the Southeastern District.
Despite some tough international competition, Team Nfinity finished a respectable 8th place (3rd place among American Teams) in the Brijuni Division. Catie Espinoza from Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club was named to the All Tournament Team. Team Nfinity played tough matches against Hungary, Czech, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, the Croatian Youth National Team won the division.
Prior to the tournament in Croatia, the team trained in Italy for 4 days and won competitions against junior teams from Italy and Belgium. In addition to the competition and training, the team was fortunate to have 2-time Olympian, Silver Medalist and Volleyball Hall of Fame player and coach Debbie Green travelling with the team in a mentor/coach role for both players and coaches.
