Originally posted on www.napavalleyregister.com The Napa Valley Warriors, a seventh-grade boys AAU basketball team associated with the Napa Valley Basketball Alliance, won their first tournament title in the Seventh Grade Boys White Division at the Xtreme Hoops “Game On” Tournament on Sept. 28 at Hardwood Palace in Rocklin.
Despite having only seven of the 11 boys on the roster and one of their two coaches available, the Warriors worked hard together to win all three games.
The Warriors played strong and fast to dominate the competition, winning 57-21 over the Carson Red Raiders, 49-16 over El Dorado Hills All Net, and 58-24 over Incline Basketball Club White.
The Warriors’ roster is made up of players from private and public schools in Napa who all played together on a St. Apollinaris Catholic School CYO Division I team, and remains coached by Joe Donohoe and Stuart Moore and managed by Shawn Moss, all of whom are veteran coaches. The team will be contesting competitive travel tournaments this Winter season.
The Napa Valley Basketball Alliance is a non-profit youth development organization that forms local AAU teams with local coaches; facilitates support of existing teams, programs, schools and leagues; and hosts skills clinics and camps in the Napa Valley for players to foster competitive player opportunities.
